Trying to get back into the swing of blogging
Well it's been a while!
Saturday was interesting. I was asked along with Jessica Dainty Johns to present at the MFA residency event, The Writers’ Toolbox Sessions at Lesley university in Cambridge, MA. This was the description:
Creating a Writing Community
Jessica Dainty Johns (fiction, ‘08) and Joyce Johnson (WFYP, ’07)
As you leave Lesley—either at the end of your MFA or just for another 6-month period between residencies—one of your most pressing thoughts or fears may be "How am I going to do this on my own?" Both Joyce and Jessica used that fear as motivation to create a writing community to support both their own writing craft and to nurture the craft and passion of others at all levels of writing. During the seminar they will discuss expectations and fears in the writing life, as well as share their experiences in founding two very different writing associations, one in an urban center, and one in a more rural setting in NH. They will give tips and discuss ways students can create writing communities where they live.
It was a nice day and I enjoyed presenting with Jessica.
Jessica and Erin Moulton have started the Kinship Writers Association. Check it out!

Later in the day I made my way over to the Harvard Bookstore. It was busy, but so good to be back there. I picked up my favorite Calendar Organizer, which goes from August to August, just they way I like. You can find them online at wwwmixedroleproductions.com.
That was my day and I loved it.
